Avalancha humana durante celebración religiosa en Israel dejó al menos 38 muertos

El hecho trágico se produjo en medio de los buenos resultados que ha tenido el país a la hora de enfrentar el COVID-19, por lo que realizó su primer evento masivo.

Al menos 38 muertos y decenas de heridos dejó una avalancha humana en el contexto del Lag Baomer en Israel, una festividad judía basada en el fuego, que se realizaba en el monte Meron.

El hecho ocurrió durante la madrugada del viernes, hora local, tras un aparente estallido de pánico en un lugar en el que se hacinaban decenas de miles de ultraortodoxos judíos, lo que provocó el derrumbe de una gradería.

Se trataba del acontecimiento más multitudinario que se desarrollaba en el país desde marzo del año pasado, cuando se declaró la crisis sanitaria mundial por el COVID-19, a pesar de las limitaciones de aforo de 10 mil asistentes que habían impuesto las autoridades.

Israel registra cifras positivas tras el éxito de la vacunación masiva contra el coronavirus, por lo que comenzaron a relajar medidas como los eventos masivos.

El primer ministro israelí, Benjamín Netanyahu, lamentó a través de Twitter el “enorme desastre” ocurrido durante la peregrinación religiosa. “Rezamos para que se recuperen pronto los heridos”, agregó el jefe del Gobierno.
