La vacuna de Pfizer-BioNTech contra el covid-19 tiene una efectividad de 97% para casos sintomáticos, de acuerdo un estudio realizado por ambas farmacéuticas en Israel, país que ya ha inoculado a más del 60% de su población, al menos una dosis.
A partir de datos de personas vacunadas en Israel entre el 17 de enero y el 6 de marzo, “los resultados representan las pruebas concretas más completas hasta la fecha que demuestran la eficacia de una vacuna contra el covid-19”, según un comunicado de los laboratorios y del ministerio israelí de Salud.
Según el estudio, la vacuna también es eficaz a 94% contra las formas asintomáticas del virus.
“Esta evidencia integral en condiciones reales puede ser de importancia para países de todo el mundo a medida que avanzan en sus propias campañas de vacunación un año después de que la Organización Mundial de la Salud declarara al COVID-19 como una pandemia”, dijeron las dos compañías farmacéuticas en un comunicado.
