Economista: «La economía mundial está débil. Europa estaba desacelerándose de antes del coronavirus»

El economista de la Universidad de Chile, Alejandro Alarcón, conversó en La Prueba de ADN respecto a la situación de la economía mundial ante el auge del coronavirus y la caída en el precio del petróleo, lo que impulsó el precio del dólar y contrajo el del cobre.

«La economía mundial está débil. Europa estaba desacelerándose de antes del coronavirus«, señaló el académico explicando respecto al petróleo que «Arabia Saudita tiró el mantel y en vez de ajustar la producción la aumentó, en un gallito con Rusia».

Sobre la situación del país para enfrentar los vaivenes de la economía mundial, el experto advirtió que «ya la inflación esperada anualizada está en el límite superior del rango que el Banco Central constitucionalmente se obliga a honrar, el 4%», recordando que «lo que hemos aprendido en esta situación de crisis es que es muy importante que el Banco Central sea independiente del poder político«.

Respecto a las responsabilidades políticas por la crisis, Alarcón señaló que «hay un frenesí que empuja el tipo de cambio al alza, y eso proviene de la violencia y la incapacidad del Gobierno de atajarla».
